Let's talk honestly....

Have you ever had a conversation where you heard the words being said, but just got the feeling the person saying them wasn't being completely honest. You know, those conversations where you just want the other person to say exactly what they mean!
These conversations happen a lot in the business world. I think that we try to spare others feelings by employing the method of say something nice, then present opportunities, then wrap up with a nice statement. This is not necessarily a bad method. We should find good in others and commend them for what they do good. However, we should also say what we mean, even if there are more opportunities for improvement than good things.
I'm currently reading a book by Kim Scott - Radical Candor. Although I haven't read the entire book yet, I encourage all of you to pick up a copy and read it. You might just learn something.
I know that I am learning. One thing that I have garnered from this book, if you see something, say something. You may notice ones work is not up to par and chances are that person feels the same way - like their work is not up to par. So have that conversation with them, be the coach you are and figure out what needs to be done to make this person and the team better.
